An app idea that would change my world

January 23rd, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

I have been traveling a ton since Jan 1 for my company Spotted Koi. Going to networking events, meeting with potential new customers, and also with customers that we have and continue to work with. So far, it has been alright except that I frequently have to pull over and use my iPhone Google Maps to find a spot to crash between meetings. Not only that, but the cost of driving around the block a couple times and then buying a drink so I don’t feel guilty adds up pretty quickly. What I am proposing is a website/app that will help me out by doing the following: Grab my schedule from my calendar, along with addresses for where I need… » Read More

Denver Movember 2010 Pics Day 6

November 6th, 2010 § 2 comments § permalink

Movember is upon us and Men around the world are donating their time and their faces to fight Men’s Cancers, specifically Prostate Cancer. What a great event! All you have to do is not shave a part of your face and go to awesome parties celebrating mustaches, how easy can it get? Today was the first time I could actually clean up my face (my facial hair is slow to grow, anyone got some rogain?).  It is hard to tell, but I have shaved my mustache down the sides of my mouth to my neck. I also have some mutton chops going too…More to come! Sphere: Related Content… » Read More

Maxine Needs a Home

November 3rd, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

This is Maxine. She is a Spayed 25-pound Rat Terrier (no breed papers; possibly a mix).  She was a rescue who had been abused, so she has confidence and lacks some social skills. Overall she is an amazingly sweet dog.  I have met Maxine multiple times and think she’s great, even though she had to warm up to me. A dear friend of mine has had Maxine for 6 years, but recently Maxine was being given a little too much love by my friend’s little girl and was not interested.  She is a little skittish around new people, or those who want to lavish attention on her.  As such, she bit my friends daughter.  It was not a serious bite,… » Read More

Pictures and fun from CES!

January 12th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to go to CES, and to go with my wife and family as well.  We all had passes and were able to amble about the convention halls together grabbing up free stuff and selling our various wares.  Needless to say it was a ton of fun. My letter to Alice 105.9

November 2nd, 2009 § 0 comments § permalink

I sent this to Alice 105.9 via their website’s contact form: Dear Alice 105.9, I have created a team on Movember.com of guys who are going to participate in No Shave November.  Then on the 30th we will shave our faces into Awesome Metal Mustaches. Movember.com raises money every November for Men’s Cancer charities.  This year they are raising money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. We hope to raise as much money as we can and make a huge impact on Men’s Cancer.  This is a great cause and I have a bunch of guys who are really excited to get the word out and raise some money. Our team would love to ask for your help and support either… » Read More

Airline + CO Weather + Car Rental = 8 hours to get home from Kansas City

October 5th, 2009 § 2 comments § permalink

I was in Kansas City this past weekend for a fly-by reception for my friend Chris Weeks.  I was in town for all of 40 hours (maybe) and had to head straight back out, because I am getting married to Melissa Shinn this Saturday. I got to KCI (MCI) at 3pm, because my flight left at 4:14 and immediately the flight was delayed for mechanical issues, so they were going to be between 15minutes and 45 minutes late. We finally got on the plane, flew at 40,000 feet to Denver, CO.  We started circling because there were some crazy winds on the ground and the runways were closed.  Then we started to run out of fuel, so we descended into… » Read More

Anger

September 25th, 2009 § 0 comments § permalink

It is amazing to me how people will get so angry about something and then transfer that anger on to someone or something else.  Ever wonder why so many pets, kids and spouses are abused?  I would bet that much of it comes from anger at another situation and the feeling that the anger cannot be controlled, so it just comes out. When I was in college, I had a professor who taught the class “Journey of the Hero”. This class was intended as a different way to look at classical mythology.  The approach was to look at these stories as life lessons instead of as a story to be memorized and quizzed on later. We wrote essays on how… » Read More

How do we learn?

September 21st, 2009 § 0 comments § permalink

Kids learn by observing the people around them, their parents.  This is a direct reason to why kids learn to resent the things that their parents do, be it a tick a mannerism or some catch phrase that they use.  It is boredom of the same old thing which turns into resentment because it won’t stop.  This is also a direct reason why kids claim that they will never be like their parents and then end up doing exactly the same things. You can tell me I am wrong about the following, but this is based on my observations, things I learned in school and various other places where I have picked up on human behavior conversations, books and talks…. » Read More

An update on my friend

September 15th, 2009 § 1 comment § permalink

I talked about my dilemma with my friend Brandon once before. I sent Brandon a letter with some paper and envelopes that had the stamps printed on them.  Everything, including the letter was sent back to me as contraband.  Along with that, I got another letter from Brandon. He is ready to be done with the life he has, in fact he is scared out of his mind.  I am not grateful for the fact that he is afraid for his life, but I am grateful that he is ready to get straight and get the hell out of where he is. I will have to respond to his most recent letter and send him the previous one with it,… » Read More
