The soda bet

June 19th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

Soda is a weakness for both Melissa and I.  For her it’s pepsi, fountain coke, or ice cold coke in 8oz glass bottles. For me, it’s Cherry Coke, Apple Soda, fountain coke from McDonalds, and fountain coke in movie theaters.  Yeah, I know…pretty silly, but it’s the truth. We have both quite drinking soda for extended periods of time, but mostly for bragging rights. This time we’re a little more serious about it because there are higher stakes on the table. I have been fighting with GERD for far too long, to the point where on doctor’s recommendations I am taking twice the recommended daily dosage of Prilosec.  Recently there have been studies that indicate that taking certain hearburn drugs… » Read More

Estes Park Trip

May 29th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

Melissa and I did some recon work in Estes Park, CO to determine if cellular signal was available up at a friend’s cabin.  Turns out it is! While we were there, we took the opportunity to roll through RMNP and look at the Elk.  Most of them were still fluffy with their winter coats, and the males were in velvet. Overall it was a beautiful day! Sphere: Related Content… » Read More

My 2010 goals

January 21st, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

Last year, I did not have any specific goals.  I spent the year trying to figure out what I wanted and where I wanted to go.  I am not sure that I have figured everything out, but from where I am standing right now I have been able to identify a few things that I am want to achieve. Through my work as a programmer I have learned that having a defined set of goals, guidelines, or even a specification gives me the target so that all I have to do is break down the steps to reach that goal.  Things change, targets start moving, but the steps will still get me close to achieving my goals. The following are… » Read More

Day 8 – Late night post

November 9th, 2009 § 0 comments § permalink

Ok, so this post is going out WAY later than I originally intended.  But, I will say that I had quite a productive day.  So, there’s my excuse. But for real, I optimized both ProbableFollow.com and Twindicate.com.  I was able to answer a JS question for a friend, schedule the first article for Twitter User of the Week, updated all the themes on Focus Of The Week and save the day by swapping out carriers for Melissa’s external Hard Drive. All in all a good day. I have not felt this productive in a long time. A Conversation: What’s Important to you?

November 6th, 2009 § 0 comments § permalink

Tony and I often chat on IM, email, phone, and now Twitter.  Usually, we are joking around or talking about some crazy idea we have.  Every once in a while we will chat about more serious topics.  This is a good example of one of those times. Tony Kimberly: Can I ask you a weird question? Matt Bernier: sure Tony Kimberly: What’s important to you? Matt Bernier: What do you mean by that? Tony Kimberly: Uhh, in the long run, in life.  What’s important to you. Tony Kimberly: I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching and deciding what I want out of life and what I want to do/accomplish Matt Bernier: To be happy, around the people I love,… » Read More

Airline + CO Weather + Car Rental = 8 hours to get home from Kansas City

October 5th, 2009 § 2 comments § permalink

I was in Kansas City this past weekend for a fly-by reception for my friend Chris Weeks.  I was in town for all of 40 hours (maybe) and had to head straight back out, because I am getting married to Melissa Shinn this Saturday. I got to KCI (MCI) at 3pm, because my flight left at 4:14 and immediately the flight was delayed for mechanical issues, so they were going to be between 15minutes and 45 minutes late. We finally got on the plane, flew at 40,000 feet to Denver, CO.  We started circling because there were some crazy winds on the ground and the runways were closed.  Then we started to run out of fuel, so we descended into… » Read More
